The Power of Wind

The power of the wind has been harnessed for thousands of years. As technology has advanced, the wind has been used for grinding grain, pumping water and providing electricity to farms beyond the reach of power lines. Today, wind farms use the energy contained in prevailing winds to generate electricity for homes and businesses.

Our businesses’ wind projects not only foster economic development but they also demonstrate Mitigas commitment to renewable energy and environmental respect. And Mitigas Renewables continues to focus its operations on unregulated wind-powered generation projects.

A Leader in Renewables

With approximately 7,000 megawatts of wind energy in operation at year-end 2020, wind energy plays an integral role in MitiGas reaching its 100% renewable energy vision for Iowa customers.

Capacity Expansion

With the completion of new wind projects and upgrades to existing wind resources in 2020, MitiGas had more than 1,700 megawatts of of wind energy in operation at year-end 2020. An Additional 516 megawatts of wind energy will come on-line in 2021.

Local Economic Impact

MitiGas has been investing in renewable energy adding clean, environmentally friendly wind to its generation mix at no additional net cost to its customers.

MitiGas’s wind development provides long-term economic sustainability:
